Library

As a specialist academic library with a reference collection, the Library of the Dresden City Museums supports museum research across all institutions within the museum network and is equally open to all interested parties.

Publications on the general history of technology, photography, computing and office technology, electronics, entertainment technology and domestic appliances form another important part of the museum library. Titles from the fields of photographic and cinematographic technology, photochemistry and photophysics, as well as artistic photography, round off the collection.

The library’s oldest books date from the 17th century. Within the collection of periodicals, the first German-language journal, the *Photographisches Journal* (1854–1863), the *Photographisches Wochenblatt* (1878–1890) and the *Photographische Correspondenz* (1879–1953) form a particularly outstanding group within the collection.

OPAC

The library’s holdings can be searched via the OPAC or requested by email or telephone. By prior arrangement, reserved items can be viewed in the library’s reading room on Thursdays.

Reading Room in the Landhaus

The reading room is located on the first floor of the Landhaus and can be accessed via the museum entrance on Landhausstraße.

We are happy to facilitate visits to the library for users with mobility impairments, subject to prior arrangement by email or telephone.
