The "Picknick" was one of the first self-service restaurants in Dresden in 1961. After 1990, the pavilion building was only used temporarily. What could become of the Picknick now? Convert, extend and continue to build the East Modernist building in the spirit of upcycling? Or tear it down and build something completely different?

As part of a pop-up exhibition in 2021, the City Museum, together with the TU Dresden (Chair of Design Theory, Faculty of Architecture), ostmodern.org and Quarterback Immobilien, invited visitors to the "picnic". You can still visit the exhibition in the 3D tour and even wander through the former utility rooms, which were not accessible during the exhibition.

Video interviews and recordings were also made to accompany the exhibition.

An interactive map of tobacco industry locations in Dresden was created to accompany the 2021 exhibition. The lectures for the exhibition were recorded.
