Scientific traineeship
The Museums of the City of Dresden offer two scientific traineeships.
The traineeship takes place alternately in one of the following museums: Stadtmuseum, Städtische Galerie or Dresden Technology Collections.
A university degree is a prerequisite for applying for a traineeship at the museums of the City of Dresden.
Internship
Student internship
At the Stadtmuseum Dresden, we are happy to provide insights into the complex work of a museum through a student internship. The following basic requirements must be met:
- An internship is only possible if it is an internship required by the training centre/university. A corresponding confirmation from the training centre/university must be enclosed with the application.
- The duration of the internship should be 8 to 12 weeks.
- Students must have completed at least the fourth semester.
- Foreign applicants must be fluent in written and spoken German.
the internship is not remunerated.

MEDIATORS
We are looking for freelance employees on the basis of a trainer's allowance in the field of education & mediation at the Städtische Galerie and the Stadtmuseum Dresden.
- Are you interested in Dresden's art and city history?
- Do you enjoy working in a team as well as organising events independently? Do you love creative work and are sociable and communicative?
- Do you enjoy getting to know other perspectives and introducing children and young people to the city's museums?
The Landhaus am Pirnaischen Platz is home to two museums of the city of Dresden: the City Museum and the Municipal Gallery. On three levels, visitors will find exhibits on the early beginnings of the city, famous personalities from the city's history and formative events in the 19th and 20th centuries. The gallery not only exhibits views of the city, but also paintings, sculptures, etc. created by Dresden artists.
We are looking for people with
- Openness and empathy as well as a friendly and confident demeanour,
- Enjoy dealing with school classes and other visitor groups,
- reliable working hours, especially mornings and weekends,
- Commitment and interest in the topics of our institution,
- Expertise in a historical or artistic field.
What are your tasks?
Realisation of workshops and tours, mainly for children and young people:
- Mon to Fri, mainly daycare/after-school groups and school classes (mainly in the mornings)
- Sat and Sun children's birthday parties

Federal Volunteer Service in the Education & Outreach Department
Support us with our educational and leisure programmes in the Stadtmuseum and the Städtische Galerie. You will prepare events including materials, sit in on workshops and assist our mediators, as well as keeping an overview of our workshop rooms. Ideally, you would like to write short texts for social media and take photos for them.

In 2009, Stefan Martin handed over photographic and film material for possible use in the museum as part of preparations for an exhibition on the subject of 1989 / 1990 in Dresden. Due to his death shortly afterwards, the material remained unaccounted for in the museum.
The material in question is as follows:
- 2 DVDs with films: 1. Zu Tisch. The best pictures of a film HERE, three films by Olaf Böhme & Stefan Martin; 2. video studio Dresden / Martin / Böhme
- 52 black and white photographs, hand prints, Dresden 1985 to 1991
- 2 folders with negative archive
- 15 photo bags with 35mm negatives, Dresden 1985 to 1991
This collection is largely unprocessed, a first partial inspection was carried out with family members.
The tasks during the internship:
- Creating an inventory overview
- Rough recording of the remaining material in the Museum + database (under supervision)
- Researching the motifs/persons, possibly in dialogue with family members
- Handing over material not relevant to the collection to surviving relatives
- Relocation suitable for storage
- Packing according to museum standards
About Stefan Martin
- from approx. 1988 film studies in Potsdam-Babelsberg, degree unclear (if approx. 1991)
- parallel photo work/studies, partly in preparation for the entrance examination in Babelsberg
- active in theatre and film (e.g. with Olaf Böhme, including Theater 50 in Dresden); he was very interested in pantomime
- after 1990, travelled throughout Germany as a freelance artist and in various jobs, living in Bremen and the Odenwald for some time
- Trained as a masseur and physiotherapist
- Worked as a choirmaster, also sang himself, played the piano
- professional activity increasingly restricted by depression, moved back to the parental home after DD ("Auf dem Sand")
- Book project with publisher "Dresden Gold" with poems
