How did Wilhelm von Kügelgen celebrate his birthday? What was in Erich Kästner's school cone? And what did a day in the life of a little princess at the Dresden court look like? The Dresden City Museum looks back on around 200 years of children's lives in the city, on the special features of the early years, on education and childhood hardships, but also on institutionalised childhood and children's leisure activities in the modern age. Historical toys and children's clothing tell of Dresden's children's world, as do scooters, prams and the park railway. Memories of Dresden personalities, photographs of young Dresdeners and portraits of children by Dresden artists show the diverse images of children in the city.
