In one go... the Museum Night programme at the Landhaus unites the diversity of art and culture. It looks at movement and process, technology and innovation, craftsmanship and tradition, history and the present. Take the next train and be part of it!

Antje Göhler, who holds a doctorate in German studies and was GDR chess champion in 1988, will read from her novel, which was published in 2023. It tells of the first love experiences of Bettina, an East Berliner who trains in chess clubs in her free time. The author will not only provide insights into her book, but will also present selected chess games.

Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to get active yourself. A blitz chess tournament is aimed at club players. At the same time, free games will be offered for amateur players who would like to familiarise themselves with chess in a relaxed atmosphere.

The tour gives a vivid impression of Wolfgang Uhlmann's legacy: his outstanding career as well as the joy of the game and the promotion of young talent.

Afterwards, those interested will be given an introduction to the game of chess, can ask questions and learn the basics. The programme is aimed at beginners and anyone who would like to learn more about chess.

What role did Jewish citizens play in the economic life of our city? How did they shape trade, finance and industry during the German Empire and the Weimar Republic?

Selected objects from our depot, which are now being shown in a new context, shed light on the contribution of Jewish factory owners, bankers and businessmen to Dresden's economic development and tell of a life that was firmly anchored in the centre of society.

The tour takes place in the museum café - with a view of the new acquisitions showcase. Small snacks are available; coffee can be obtained from the vending machine if required. In this relaxed setting, the city museum is establishing a new tour format that allows visitors to experience history through dialogue.
