Coffee klatch in the city museum
Like his father, Wilhelm von Kügelgen initially devoted himself to painting - but then he also showed a talent for writing. He described his youthful experiences in the famous "Memoirs of an Old Man" - a book that caused a sensation. From its first publication in 1870 to 1922 alone, it went through 230 editions - and should be read much more often today. We have made a small selection of the most vivid "memories" for you.
